Travel Consultant

**Responsibilities**:

- Research various destinations and means of travel regarding prices, customs, weather conditions, reviews etc.
- Diagnose the clients’ specifications and wishes and suggest suitable travel packages or services
- Organize travels from beginning to end, through booking tickets and accommodation, securing rental transportation etc.
- Supply travelers with pertinent information and useful travel/holiday material (guides, maps, event programs etc)
- Collect deposits and balances
- Use promotional techniques and prepare promotional materials to sell itinerary tour packages
- Handle unforeseen problems and complaints and determine eligibility for money returns

Key Skills:

- Passionate about travel and tourism
- Excellent knowledge of airline fares, and strong knowledge of company/supplier contracts, including previous experience in product and airfares.
- Excellent knowledge of latest tourism trends
- Excellent understanding of different tourism offerings and options
- Excellent knowledge of GDS travel software (Sabre, Amadeus etc)
- Excellent sales, communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proven problem resolution skills and the ability to effectively multi-task
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office

Experience Required:

- A secondary school diploma is required
- A university degree or college diploma in tourism is an asset
- GDS experience, SABRE or AMADEUS is considered an asset
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Previous management and tourism experience is a plus
