Warehouse Manager

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Warehouse Manager will be responsible for strategically managing all aspects of Olsen inbound/outbound, storing, Ecom and distribution operations by initiating, planning, coordinating, and enforcing operational warehouse policies and procedures. The Warehouse Manager will ensure KPIs are achieved while continuously striving for improvement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Monitor, flow control, and warehousing of merchandise.
- Oversee all warehouse services including receiving, storing, shipping, handling returned/damaged goods, maintenance, and administrative activities.
- Responsible for Olsen’s Ecommerce in collaboration with the merchandise and marketing departments.
- Responsible to ensure all requirements by internal and external customers are completed in the desired time frames.
- Meet warehouse financial standards by providing annual budget information, monitoring expenditures, identifying variances, implementing corrective actions.
- Follow programs implemented to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the Warehouse.
- Maintains storage area by organizing floor space and recommending improvements.
- Constantly work to improve processes and make suggestions for productivity improvements.
- Track and maintains inventory by conducting cycle counts, and reconciling variances.
- Measuring and reporting the effectiveness of warehousing activities.
- Prepare accurate and timely reports regarding warehouse operations.
- Maintain flow control and keep receiving area organized.
- Develop a workforce by hiring, training, and managing employee performance.
- Responsible for planning and scheduling of all full-time, part-time, and temporary associates to meet day to day operations requirements. Avoid excess expenses including overtime and agency use.
- Forecast manpower based on needs of the business and budgets. Ensure the labor requirements of the warehouse are both adequate and justified.
- Maintain Time and Attendance system (ADP Workforce Now).
- Determine and track warehouse KPIs.
- Contributes toward a constructive work environment through excellent interpersonal, team building skills, open communications, encouraging suggestions and practicing positive performance management.
- Optimize employee workflow.
- Ensure that all staff have the necessary resources and tools required to do their job efficiently, effectively and in compliance with Olsen’s health and safety standards.
- Comply with all Quality, Health, Safety & Loss Prevention programs to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment, and property.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety, productivity, and overall efficiency.
- Ensure all problems with receiving are addressed to guarantee peak efficiency.
- Ensure all problems are reported to merchandising department as soon as aware:
- package and unit counts, quality issues and inaccurate product, etc
- Support the requirements of information for Customer Service, Finance, Accounts Receivable, Marketing, and Merchandising.
- Review timeliness of scheduled deliveries.
- Ensure all equipment, i.e. scanners, forklift, pallet truck, ladders, etc. is placed on a preventative maintenance program if required and that they are inspected regularly for problems and safety concerns.
- Manage the waste bins for pick up as needed and advise if schedule is to be increased/decreased in any manner.
**COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, TRAITS) AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum of +7 years of relevant work experience with at least 5 years of proven warehouse management experience
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to influence and inspire change through communication at all impacted levels.
- Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Team oriented leadership style and ability to manage / work with diverse groups of people.
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills - verbal and written.
- Previous experience building staff schedules, forecasting needs, and managing large teams.
- Excellent understanding of warehouse operations, procedures, equipment, and terminology.
- Demonstrated success in a multi-tasking, deadline-oriented, environment with ability to prioritize decisions accurately.
- Valid forklift license is preferred.
- Experience palletizing orders.
- Knowledge of warehouse inventory techniques & guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and the ability to implement them appropriately.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, inventory management and ability to accurately track inventory.
- Hands-on commitment to getting the job done.
- Very strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Uses strategic thinking and planning, able to identify issues, propose viable solutions, and implement appropriate changes.
