Vice President of Sales

Bioriginal is a global leader in manufacturing natural nutritional foods, ingredients and supplements for food and beverage companies. For more than 25 years, Bioriginal has carved out a niche by scientifically combining ingredients from all over the world, directly from the source, to create innovative and efficacious solutions.
We are currently seeking a Vice President of Sales (Retail) to join our executive leadership team in Saskatoon, SK.
Reporting to the CEO (and as part of the executive leadership team), this role provides strategic oversight and vision to the retail segment of Bioriginal's business, with the goal of developing and growing business and accounts within their assigned business segment. The role will work closely with sales leaders and personnel in other key business segments of the Company, along with other key internal stakeholders.
**Roles & Responsibilities**:
- Overall Leadership_
- As part of the executive leadership team, the VP of Sales - Retail focuses on developing and implementing an overall sales strategy & execution plan that related to the retail business segment within Bioriginal.
- Has overall involvement and input into Bioriginal’s strategic plans and vision.
- Provides leadership and vision for the retail business segment, and ensures all necessary stakeholders have an understanding and are engaged of the challenges, opportunities, etc.
- Works closely and collaborates with sales staff from other business segments, including the European sales team.
- Retail Business Focus_
- Working closely with the CEO, focuses on development and rollout of Bioriginal’s retail brand.
- Working closely with the senior leadership team, develops a comprehensive product listing for Bioriginal’s brand, along with relevant packaging for grocery, mass, pharmacy and club retail channels.
- Develops applicable KPI’s, goals and objectives for the retail sales sector - both for the business segment as a whole and for individual contributors within the retail sector.
- Develops and implements standard processes and procedures for retail sales business segment.
- Develops, monitors and manages the retail sales business segment budget.
- Builds and maintains personal relationships with key decision makers with all global, national and regional retailers.
- Recruits and manages relationships with brokers for coverage of retail sales channels.
- Works closely with the New Product Development team in bringing new products to market within the retail business segment and develops strategies and plans for rolling new products out to existing and new customers.
- Works closely with the marketing function and Inside Sales teams to obtain, follow-up with and convert potential customers within the retail business segment.
- Ensures proper visibility and reporting of key metrics and statistics related to the retail sales sector, and shares with the executive team and other stakeholders as required.
- People Leadership_
- Recruits and retains key sales talent.
- Provides and demonstrates strong leadership to the sales team.
- Sets individual goals, KPI’s and expectations for staff, and holds staff accountable as required.
- Focuses on development and growth of staff.
- Misceallaneous_
- Works closely with the marketing function to understand consumer trends and marketing strategies of products.
- Prepares for and attends any relevant trade shows.
- Ensures accurate and timely sales forecasts are completed and shared with stakeholders.
- Attends various executive and sales meetings/calls as required.
- Working with Finance, prepares proactive plan to approach customers with overdue Accounts Receivable balances.
**Skills, Experience and Education**:
- Minimum of 5+ years of sales leadership experience within the food retail sector, with experience calling on retail customers (i.e. grocery, mass, pharmacy & club channels).
- Previous B2B sales experience within the food & beverage, consumer goods or health & wellness industries is an asset.
- Related post-secondary education is preferred.
- Exceptional leadership and strategic thinking skills required.
- Strong growth mindset, business acumen and customer focus is required.
- A strong track record of exceeding goals and delivering results.
- Proven track record of successfully leading sales teams is required.
- Previous experience with nutritional food or supplements is an asset.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills required working with several different stakeholder groups.
- Must be able to travel regularly as required.
