**Working as a Research Coordinator**

The Research Coordinator provides laboratory-related assistance to the research group (technicians, post-docs, graduate students) under the guidance of the Principal Investigator. The research lab has a translational program that focuses on studying the effect of electrical stimulation on modifying the electrophysiological, biomechanical, and clinical states of neurological injury of the spinal cord. The position supports current experimentation involving longitudinal exercise training interventions in combination with neuromodulation to understand spinal circuitry and walking rehabilitation. The position also requires an understanding of biomechanical aspects of gait, physiotherapy assessments of gait in persons with neurological injury or impairment (walking speed and endurance tests, balance tests, spinal cord injury assessments), and the basic neuroscience involved in spinal cord injury. The Research coordinator will work closely with patients from various backgrounds and levels of ability.

**Duties**

Research
- Assist systematic reviews by screening and extracting data from research articles
- Responsible for daily exercise training with participants with spinal cord injury.
- Performs several common electrophysiological tests including motor evoked potentials and Hoffman reflexes.
- Conducts data analyses and interpretation with all relevant data types, preparing data for laboratory meetings and publications

Administrative
- Report to the Principal Investigator providing administrative support for research and clinical studies
- Schedule participants and manage the Rehabilitation Innovations Core Calendar
- Data entry and maintain different databases (program and research)
- Coordinating with iSMART (Institute) for tours and events
- Coordinate orientation and ongoing development of junior research team members tracking trainees' completion ensuring compliance with ethics and protocol procedures
- Provides training with various equipment to other lab members when necessary

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Honours Neuroscience or related field
- 2-3 years of electrophysiology laboratory experience
- Experience working with the disabled community is an asset
- Experience with patient interaction and administration of questionnaires; dealing with patients and responding to study-related questions
- Experience in data management
- Familiar with retrieving patient information from patient charts is an asset
- Intermediate level competency with MS Office (Word and Excel) and Adobe
- Excellent organizational, analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, timelines and a flexible work schedule
- Ability to work efficiently and in a professional and ethical manner
- Ability to work independently as well as with others on a team
