Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for mechanical systems and preventative maintenance? Join our dynamic team as the lead maintenance delivery resource for the Mechanical (Preventative Maintenance) Services unit as our next **Mechanical Supervisor (Preventative Maintenance).**
In this position, you will play a key role in coordinating, leading, and directing the daily workflow of repair and preventative maintenance on all campus mechanical systems. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the timely execution of preventative maintenance, repair, and mechanical service operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to showcase your leadership skills, technical proficiency, and commitment to quality in a vibrant university setting.
**What You’ll Do**:
- **Coordinate and Lead**: Take charge of scheduling work assignments, cataloging assets, and providing comprehensive documentation for all preventative maintenance activities. Direct the daily workflow of repair and preventative maintenance on campus mechanical systems and components.
- **Supervise and Mentor**: Share supervision responsibilities with other Mechanical Supervisors to oversee internal Service Mechanics, Preventative Maintenance staff, and external consultants and contractors. Provide mentoring, teaching, and quality control to ensure excellence in maintenance, repairs, installation, and projects.
- **Strategize and Plan**: Develop strategies and schedules to maintain equipment at peak efficiency, promoting upgrades to mechanical equipment and systems. Collaborate with internal university clients to ensure strong customer satisfaction while meeting campus and community needs.
- **Manage Resources**: Source and order services or materials and equipment for current or future projects. Assist with budget matters by conducting research and providing input for project prioritization.
- **Ensure Compliance**: Monitor safety practices and procedures, ensuring conformity with OH&S, blueprint specifications, National and Local Plumbing and Building Codes, and other regulatory requirements.
- **Promote Continuous Improvement**: Stay abreast of new advancements and techniques in the Mechanical Trades. Maintain and update trade and University required certifications, confirming that all staff have appropriate training for assigned tasks.
- **Supervise and Collaborate**: Coordinate with other Trade Supervisors to meet maintenance, repair, and project requirements. Oversee shop areas, shop equipment, and maintenance trucks.
- **Problem-Solve**: Resolve on-the-job problems promptly, ensuring the smooth execution of mechanical duties.
- **Documentation and Reporting**: Maintain records, monthly reports, daily time sheets, and other logs or reports as needed by the department.

Position Requirements
**What You’ll Bring to the Position**:
- Successful completion of Grade 12.
- Must possess a valid Saskatchewan Journeyperson certificate and/or a valid Interprovincial Journeyperson certificate in the Mechanical Trades. (Instrumentation and Control Technician, Plumber, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic, Steamfitter-Pipefitter, Sheet Metal Worker, Sprinkler Fitter, Industrial Mechanic) or a Technical Diploma in Instrumentation Technology.
- Minimum of seven years post Journeyperson/Diploma commercial and industrial experience.
- Must possess a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license (Class 5).
