**POSITION OVERVIEW**
The **Quality Supervisor** oversees the Quality department including all quality staff, resources, activities and reporting required for the manufacture of safe and high-quality food products for Western Dairy Processing (WDP) Inc operating in the DIW (Dairy Innovation West) facility in Alberta.
The primary role of the Quality Supervisor is the management of all the quality activities related to validation, quality assurance, quality control, and document control for all Quality and Food Safety Systems related functional groups within the facility. This role involves evaluating, enhancing and measuring quality management systems; conducting internal audits in accordance with the QA prepared internal audit schedule; identifying problems and bottlenecks related to Quality and Food Safety Systems certifications; and recommending solutions.
The position directly manages the activities associated with the quality department and oversees the effective and efficient operation of all department functions and key responsibility areas.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS**
***Quality Assurance**
- Recommends, prepares and implements Quality Systems SOP's and Policies including all QA checklists in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Evaluates, enhances and measures quality management systems. Conducts internal HACCP, FSSC 22000, and Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) audits in accordance with the QA prepared internal audit schedule. Identifies problems and bottlenecks related to GMP and recommends solutions. Tracks and trends system-wide problems and if detected, initiates investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action with the appropriate function Head. Follows up to ensure recommendations are followed.
- Establishes and maintains a document record control and retrieval system for production records including batch records, validation protocols, QA audit reports etc.
- Chairs and leads all quality meetings, such as Food Safety Team meetings, Management Reviews and Mock recalls.
- Provides internal training in accordance with Quality prepared Internal Training Schedule.
- Leads external quality audits including but not limited to Kosher, Halal, CFIA, Customer audits or 3rd party audits.
- Reviews suppliers’ qualifications/maintenance of their programs with Quality and Regulatory compliance.
- Oversee implementation of FSSC 22000 systems including improvements and maintenance as a Food Safety Team Leader.
**Quality Control**
- Reviews and monitors trending of analytical and microbiological data as required.
**Validation Duties**
- Provides guidance in the support and maintenance of the validation program. Maintains and recommends changes that are necessary due to changes in regulations and industry standards, and/or changes that are due to change control documentation produced by the company.
- Ensures compliance against validation protocols for facilities, utilities, equipment, processes and systems.
**Leadership & Human Resources**
- Directly supervises the quality department and is responsible for employee performance appraisals.
- Identify, assemble and manage budget, time, resource requirements, and human resources required to complete various quality processes and projects. Consults with Director, Corporate Quality as required (i.e. work scheduling, training requirements, etc.)
- Promotes positive spirit and work attitude within the team and the facility.
- Provides overall leadership through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.
- Develops, implements, and maintains training programs for quality personnel.
- Ensures a respectful, safe, and healthy work environment for department staff.
- Applies company human resources policies and processes in an equitable and fair manner.
- Collaborates with other departments within the building to ensure compliance with Quality systems.
