Jewish Federation of Winnipeg is seeking a Chief Financial Officerwho will work collaboratively within a highly dedicated team of professionals and lay leaders to safeguard and manage the organizational assets guided by the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg’s mission:

- Act as the representative body of the Winnipeg Jewish Community, building and sustaining a strong, secure and connected community rooted in Jewish values._

This position provides oversight and management of a budget of $7 million. Our finances require an individual experienced in and comfortable with multiple lines of business reporting to several entities, both internal and external.

Salary will commensurate with experience.

- Professional accounting designation
- Five or more years of senior level experience in a finance department
- Superior management and communication skills, ability to mentor, influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
- Highly analytical with well-developed reasoning and decision-making skills, including strategic thinking, information gathering and problem solving
- Results oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to independently reach outcomes
- Demonstrated attention to detail, identifying and correcting errors
- Proficient in the use of accounting software packages
- Proficient in MS Office Suite with expertise In Excel
- Positive attitude, receiving and acting on suggestions, corrections, and feedback
- Flexibility with the ability to adjust priorities during times of urgency

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage the Finance Department and all related committees
- Oversee, analyze, and report to the board of directors on the financial operations of the two business entities on a regular basis
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process for the two business entities, with presentation at the Annual General Meetings
- Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to develop, implement, monitor and adjust strategies and processes related to overall finance, administrative systems, risk mitigation, investments, insurance, benefits, procurement of physical assets, constituent database, information technology, payroll, and human resources, etc.
- Oversee procurement, relationship, and processes of related to partners in finance, audit, insurance, benefits, major equipment and tool purchases, and pension, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies
- Develop the structure to lead, mentor and collaborate with staff and/or lay leaders to continually improve or develop new:

- Financial strategies and protocols to safeguard and invest the assets of the organization
- Financial reporting methods for all stakeholders with regular and timely financial reports
- Departmental and organizational budgets, including careful monitoring, and efficiency opportunities
- Strategies for best in practice human resources and administrative policies and processes

Oversee all short and long-term plans and actions in the tendering process for all major purchases, including contract development, equipment, benefits, financial institutions, auditors, insurance, investment, payroll, pension, data management, accounting programs, etc.
- Oversee the approval and processing of expenditures related to departmental budgets
- Manage the processes related to payroll, salary updates, and benefits
- Oversee the flow of all transactions that generate a financial impact on the organization
- Manage financial forecasting, providing strategic risk mitigation recommendations to the CEO and board of directors
- Provide consultation to partner organizations related to financial reporting
- Oversee the review of any financial information provided by or to outside agencies
- Promote the work of the Federation to the community
- Oversee the financial transactions of the fundraising department (pledge redemption, receipts, etc.)
- Identify cost savings measures and make recommendations to the CEO
- Continually assess for financial risks and develop strategies to provide risk mitigation recommendations to the CEO and the board of directors
- Actively engage in personal development that improves work performance
- Maximize use of all tools, software and systems in place to the benefit of the organization
- Provide staff back-up for payroll and general accounting duties
- Provide work schedule flexibility for meetings that take place outside of regularly scheduled office hours
- Other duties as required
