**Job Description**:
The Allied Health Services (AHS) team, under Professional Practice consists of Regulated Healthcare Professionals including: Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work, Registered Dietitians, Respiratory Therapy, as well as unregulated Rehabilitation Assistants. Each discipline is focused on driving evidence informed practice to promote high quality patient and family centered care.

The team has a Professional Practice Leader (PPL) model for each regulated allied health discipline which promotes and enhances the interprofessional team. Each discipline has their own PPL with dedicated time to enhance their communities of practice, represent their respective disciplines at committees, create policies & procedures and lead corporate level initiatives.

Education
- Community College Graduate of the Communicative Disorders Assistant Program - Mandatory
- Membership with provincial or national professional association (e.g., Speech-Language Audiology Canada - SAC) - Preferred

Experience

Experience with communication and other neurological disorders, in particular stroke.
- Experience providing intervention in a variety of models including coaching and group and individual direct services.
- Experience working with adult clients/patients
- Experience with modified barium swallow studies preferred

Competencies
- Knowledge of current best practices in treatment of aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia
- Knowledge of dysphagia intervention
- Basic computer literacy (facility utilizes online documentation program)
- Must possess sound judgment, tact, initiative and flexibility in adapting to a variety of intervention settings under significant workload expectations
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with families, caregivers and colleagues essential
