**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Recreation & Leisure Centre is responsible for the planning, coordinated development, management and implementation of recreation, leisure, therapy and volunteer activities, programs, services and initiatives to the residents of a municipal long term care facility.
You are responsible for supporting Adult Day Program (ADP) clients in collaboration with the ADP Coordinator and ADP Assistants. You ensure client optimal functioning and well being in a supportive, therapeutic environment, with an emphasis on client safety and engagement.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**:
Completion of Grade 12 and the successful completion of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate program* which meets the standards established in the Long Term Care Act.
- Clinical Practicum hours within the Personal Support Worker program consist of a minimum of one hundred and forty (140) hours, as practical experience, preferably with clinic experience in a geriatric or long term care setting.
Experience with adult programming, recreation or social activities is considered an asset
**KNOWLEDGE**:
- Client hygiene, optimal functioning, well-being, feeding, elimination
- Health Care Aide routines and practices in a Adult Day Program or Long-Term care setting
- Infection control guidelines
- Transfer and positioning techniques of clients
- Rehabilitation and palliative approaches
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

**DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS**:
GPA, Pieces or any applicable training in dementia care is considered an asset
**WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW**
- Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing
- Must be able to work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays at a variety of locations.; May include some evening and weekend hours to meet training and/or programming requirements.; You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
