**Summary**:
This position lives in the Safe Haven home with 3 youth, located in a desirable inner-city community close to amenities in Calgary. The Live In has their own private room with ensuite, and receives a monthly health spending account, cell phone reimbursement, grocery supplement, and utilities are included. This position does not work set hours, however, must be available to support the youth when needed.

**Live In Support Contract Position (contract start date May 31, 2024)**

Safe Haven Foundation’s mission is to _Help Give Calgary’s homeless and At-risk Girls Their Future Back_. Safe Haven Foundation provides the girls with a safe, positive home with healthy relationships and the necessary supports to overcome their barriers, complete their education and become self-reliant contributing citizens in our community.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Live In Supports reside at the Safe Haven homes, ensuring all programming adheres to best practices and operates in an ethical manner in the best interest of the youth. They ensure the programs stay consistent with the program mission and vision. Being a community ambassador in this role is essential.

The Live in Supports provide ongoing support and resources in a flexible, compassionate, encouraging environment. The Live in Supports are responsible for all of the day-to-day aspects of the home and supporting the case management of the youth, including connecting to family and natural supports, mental and physical health supports, employment and education, social inclusion, and recreational activities. The Live in Supports are an intricate part of the team and supported by the rest of the Safe Haven’s programming team.

**Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to the following**:

- Build strong client relationships and deliver client-centric solutions.
- Help reduce barriers to education and attend school meetings if required.
- Provide ongoing support in a safe home-like environment.
- Ensure that the youth are provided with adequate supervision and support.
- Establish clear and fair expectations and routines in the home, while still being open to discussions with the youth to negotiate change.
- Support and attend monthly house meetings with the youth in the home and attend monthly programming team meetings.
- Provide a teaching environment for life and living skills to support the youth to transition into independence.
- Support, encourage and attend recreational programming in the community with the youth, including appointments and meetings.
- Assist the youth in developing their communication, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills
- Ensure the home is clean and maintained per established policies.
- Maintain an effective communication system to ensure youth that are able to reach you when not in the program.
- Support youth crisis and ensuring safety planning is in place and communicated with all the programming staff.
- Manage emergency medical situations and notify appropriate programming staff.
- Facilitate family and natural support meetings and remain in contact with family and natural supports that the youth has given consent for program staff to speak with
- Facilitate relationships between family, professionals and health personnel and advocate when necessary.
- Support youth living on the Peer Mentor side of Haven’s Way when needed and during monthly respite.
- Other duties as required.
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in the social sciences/human services sector is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience/training will be considered.
- Minimum 2 years direct work experience with youth population.
- Employment outside of Safe Haven Foundation must be during the day only; not evenings, overnight or weekends.
- Knowledge and understanding of the HF4Y model and the FNS model.
- Reliable vehicle as this position requires transporting the youth in the home.
- Current Driver’s Abstract and driver’s liability insurance (minimum $2,000,000).
- Light to moderate lifting to support youth with their move ins and out.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt taking into the consideration of each unique youth.
