Our Mechanical Engineering team is looking for promising new talent In this position you will provide frontline mechanical engineering support to the maintenance and operations groups, help in troubleshooting equipment failures, develop a strong comprehension of the engineering principles, codes and standards and foster relationships across multiple disciplines while upholding our commitment to safety and the environment.

Key Accountabilities:

- Liaise between our Field Maintenance and Engineering & Reliability departments, clearly communicating ongoing plant issues, ‘bad actors’, asset upgrade opportunities/necessities, potential safety improvements, procedural advances, and recurring problems
- Provide concise engineering scopes of work to support planned and unplanned activities
- Lead management of change work in support of a safe, reliable operation
- Use a questioning attitude to investigate equipment failures, determine root cause, and drive significant corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
- Support/participate in turnaround/outage activities
- Assist reliability engineering with equipment strategy improvements
- Assist in updating work practices and procedures

Minimum Requirements:

- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Registered or eligible for registration as EIT with APEGA with a desire to attain P.Eng designation within 4 years
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups from different part of the organization including other engineering discipline, numerous trades, planning, supply chain, operations, condition base monitoring, quality assurance, etc
- The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and have a strong sense of accountability
- A continuous improvement mindset and are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace
- An interest in field work in a challenging and fast paced industry

Location and other key details:

- You will work out of Suncor Base Plant location in Fort McMurray, Alberta
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours and on call requirement based on business needs
- This position is safety sensitive
