**SUMMARY OF **DUTIES**

Reporting to the Supervisor, Parking Collections, install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all parking payment equipment and systems within municipal carparks, parking garages/structures and on-street. This position will also assist with snow removal in municipal carparks, garages and structures when required.

**GENERAL DUTIES**

Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all parking payment equipment and systems including but not limited to meters, payment machines, entry/exit terminals and associated systems. This includes the installation and repair of electrical circuits.

Perform and assist in the development of preventative maintenance procedures for all relevant equipment in accordance with manufacturer/system provider guidelines ensuring compliance with City of Hamilton policies and procedures.

Operate hand and power tools as required to ensure machines are maintained and repaired properly, including but not limited to pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, electric drills, grinders, soldering stations.

Install and program computerized upgrades in each machine/system including but not limited to system updates, security patches, pricing and hours of operation changes.

Create and document computerized asset management and maintenance logs - requires proficiency in spreadsheets, asset databases, GIS technology.

Respond to maintenance/malfunction inquiries both written and verbal and document appropriately.

Provide training and instruction on machine/system operations to other staff where appropriate.

Identify and assist in evaluation of existing and future equipment.

Assist with revenue collection and coin processing as well as maintenance of coin processing equipment where required.

Operate snow clearing and removal equipment to assist maintenance staff and outside contractors when required.

Perform other duties as assigned which are directly related to the major responsibility of the job.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Technical knowledge of the installation, repair and maintenance of electronic equipment normally acquired through the completion of an Electrical Technician Diploma.
- Previous working experience in the Parking Industry with electronic parking meter mechanisms, Pay and Display ticket machines, Pay on Foot Systems, entrance and exit ticket/gate systems and associated computer software.
- Strong computer skills (outlook, word, excel) including good knowledge of web-based systems relevant to parking systems and all relevant computer hardware.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have the ability to work independently prioritizing changing demands and requests and executing with mínimal supervision to achieve best possible outcome. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to relate and respond readily to front line staff, City departments and the general public.
- Knowledge of Hansen would be considered an asset.
- Must be willing and able to work in both indoor (office/workshop) and outdoor environments and operate snow removal equipment when required.
- Must have a valid class G Ontario Driver’s License with a clean driving abstract.

**THIS POSITION REQUIRES A VALID CLASS “G” DRIVER’S LICENCE AND PROOF THEREOF IS REQUIRED AFTER HIRE.**
