**Position**:Regional General Manager (Toronto)**
**The Role at a Glance**: Reporting to the President and Executive Vice-President, our Regional General Manager will create and maintain customer-driven hotels and inspire and engage hotel team members to thrive and deliver excellence in all areas of work. The GM will oversee and implement strategies to ensure the hotels as well as their event venues and food & beverage outlets, exceed customer satisfaction. The hallmark of success will be consistent delivery of excellence in both product quality and service, always in accordance with profitability goals. In this regional role, you would oversee two of our boutique properties: The Broadview Hotel in Toronto’s east end and Gladstone House in Toronto’s west end.
**Your Day-to-Day Duties**:
**Leadership of Hotel People & Culture**:
- Oversee hiring, training and driving a team culture to contribute to the overall success of the business with a focus on exceeding performance targets.
- Foster a positive work environment, enhancing employee engagement, and driving operational efficiencies with the team.
- Develop and coach team members and management team, including annual performance reviews.
- Resolve team member problems and provide solutions. Ensure open communication. Make and approve decisions related to employee discipline and termination.
- Proactively develop talent strategies and plan for hiring needs and business seasonality.
- Facilitate and encourage team member department meetings to ensure goals and daily priorities are met. Drive an open, collaborative, and communicative culture.
- Partner with corporate level People & Culture department to appropriately handle team member issues in accordance with policies and standards.
**Guest Experience, Operations and Continuous Improvement**:
- Drive operational excellence and consistency, guest satisfaction and revenue growth.
- Adeptly build strategic partnerships and expand market presence.
- Provide a positive, memorable guest experience to ensure all requests or issues are resolved, ensuring the highest service level and guest satisfaction.
- Oversee all operational areas including finance, sales and marketing, housekeeping, front office guest services, and food & beverage (FOH & BOH).
- Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Stay abreast of trends and competition to ensure the Hotels maintain a culture of constant innovation and integrate new and improved technology, products and services.
- Partner with executive team on business and strategic initiatives.
- Partner with sales and marketing on partnerships and events.
- Participate in community affairs and maintain a positive public image. Meet with potential and current clients and promote the hotel.
- Greet and maintain rapport with all stakeholders.
- Travel to attend corporate and sales meetings, as needed.
- Ensure health and safety of all employees, guests and anyone on site, recognizing that safety and security is of utmost importance.
- Ensure that all incidents are investigated and properly document, in accordance with established procedures.
- Physically tour and visually inspect property daily. Monitor cost control, property condition, cleanliness and quality of product and service throughout hotel in accordance with Archive standards.
- Comply with all of Archive’s standards, policies, and procedures.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
**Financials**:
- Optimize financial stewardship, cost controls, and budget management, all with a view to delivering bottom-line results.
- Review revenue management reports related to occupancy, revenue and all other identified metrics, and make recommendations to implement change and maximize profit.
- Ensure monthly P&L accountability; review forecasts, labour and productivity reports; approve budgets and recommend changes.
**You have**:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a General Manager capacity, with experience in a regional role running multiple properties, is considered a significant asset.
- A proven track record of success in achieving revenue and service objectives.
- Leadership experience in hiring, training, and engaging strong teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A self-starting personality with great initiative.
- The ability to lead, motivate and develop staff and to ensure they remain accountable and accomplish goals.
- The ability to set priorities, plan, organize, and delegate.
- The ability to handle conflict in a tactful and professional manner and to work within a fast-paced environment with critical timelines.
- An innate willingness and desire to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
