Key responsibilities include:

- Leading and managing staff in the Web and Portal Services team, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance;
- Developing short
- and long-range plans for website enhancements and improvement;
- Performing ongoing assessment of web needs and recommending enhancements; and
- Leading the development and maintenance of search engine optimization and keyword plans to increase visibility and rankings on search engine results.

SKILLS
- Excellent leadership, team-building and managerial skills;
- Excellent interpersonal, coaching, negotiation, and consultation skills;
- Thorough understanding of web-based communication principles and best practices, including web accessibility and usability, responsive design, mobile websites and search engine optimization;
- Knowledge of internet protocols that relate to the web, such as html, xml, CSS;
- Familiarity with database (SQL, object, and LDAP) operations and concepts;
- Strategic thinking, creativity, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with keen attention to detail;
- The ability to collaborate with and build strong working relationships with diverse technical and non-technical groups spanning all levels within the institution as well as the broader community;
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Excellent project management and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and take initiative;
- Stress management skills;
- Expertise in website design, development, and management;
- Understanding of current web security issues, approaches, and implications; and
- Advanced skills in utilizing the web as a communication and resource tool.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Commerce or Communications degree, with a focus in Communications, Marketing, Digital Marketing or related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of managerial experience in a web/communications environment (e.g., performance evaluation, hiring, discipline, terminations).
- Experience with web technologies and databases, including HTML5, CSS3, XML/RSS feeds, MySQL, PHP, and Google analytics.
- Formal web development/design training is an asset.
- Equivalences may be considered.
