**Job Summary**:
The Prep Cook performs duties such as receiving, storing, preparing, portioning, and serving menu items to the required standards. Provide training and orientation to employees as needed. Completes required duties in the absence of the Cook.

**Key Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Prepared and cooks nutritional and therapeutic food items accurately according to menu plans and standardized recipes.
- Prepares food for specialty meals and special functions.
- Tests food items for palpability and temperature and adjusts accordingly.
- Portions menu items to ensure recipe yield meets assigned quantity quotas; evaluates meals served to ensure established standards of quality and quantity are maintained.
- Ensures menu items are prepared and served according to schedule to minimize time between completion of cooking and serving.
- In the absence of the Cook, supervises and directs designated staff by performing duties such as scheduling and coordinating work assignments and providing related training and orientation.
- When required, receives deliveries of food items and ensures that foods are in accordance with the required standard and are stored in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Maintains established food rotations and storage in order to minimize spoilage and waste.
- Ensures dietary and cooking equipment and supplies are used and stored in a safe and efficient manner. Reports unsafe or faulty equipment to the Kitchen Supervisor.
- Ensures designated work areas are kept clean and tidy.
- Maintains a current knowledge of and complies with all departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Recognized diploma in institutional cooking
- Two years of recent and related experience
- Experience in baking is considered an asset
- An equivalent of education, training, and experience
- Completion of the Level II Food Safe Program
- Must provide a cleared Criminal Records Check upon hire

**Schedule**:40 hours per week; days TBD

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $20.03 per hour
