**Job description**

We are running a plant-based camp for vegan kids, a vegan family camp, and a camp for vegan adults and require a leader who has current lived experience and can lead these camps authentically. When not leading these camps, the successful applicant will also lead our other camps (open to all). We anticipate the demand for our vegan kids camps to enable us to run it for one week though we are open and hoping for additional weeks. We also anticipate the demand for the vegan family day camp and camp for vegan adults to enable us to offer each over 1-2 Saturdays or Sundays each over the summer (and are open for more if demand allows). These camps are recreational and play-based and are meant to foster connections and community.

We are looking for experienced camp, child care, and outdoor recreation professionals that wish to make a positive impact in the community. You are aligned with our values and are driven with purpose. We seek positive role models that are patient, kind, reliable, respectful, creative, dedicated, take initiative, and love to build relationships and community. Extensive knowledge of games is recommended. Please include a recent Criminal Record Check if you have one. A CRC is required. We seek and value a diverse and inclusive community.

Our vegan camp will be at out-trips in Burnaby, New West, and West Coquitlam. Beyond that, summer camp guides lead either the kids camp (ages 6-9) or youth camp (ages 10-12) at our Tri-Cities North Camps (White Pine Beach, Rocky Point, Eagleridge Pool, the Coquitlam Aquatic Complex, Poirier Pool, Crash Crawly's (if heavy rain is forecast), and more) or Tri-Cities West and Beyond Camps (out-trips that we meet at include Rocky Point, Barnet Beach, Westhill Park, Hume Park, Blue Mountain Park, Crash Crawly's (if heavy rain is forecast), Poirier Pool, and more. A reliable car is recommended. Hours are between 8 am - 6 pm Monday-Friday. This is a role that actively participates in all activities.

The position will include, but is not limited to:

- Ensuring everyone's wellness, safety, and engagement
- Collaborating with other Camp Staff and Volunteers
- Developing a safe, inclusive, and fun community for all
- Anticipating potential challenges and de-escalating and resolving them

Full time
- 35-40 hours per week from June 29-Sept. 1.

The position will generally be outdoors. As this job (when working our other camps) is partially funded by Canada Summer Jobs, staff need to be between 18-30 years old and Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents.

We also run after-school and theatre programs with public performances. Our programs are child-centred. Our mission is to inspire, empower, and create community.
