- JOB SUMMARY
- As a combined Dietary/Housekeeping/Laundry Aide position this position is required to perform general kitchen duties and food preparation as well as to complete various housekeeping and laundry duties as directed.
- EDUCATION
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Completed or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker Program approved by the Dietitian’s of Canada and the Ontario Society of Nutrition Management (formerly OFSSA).
- A current Safe Food Handling Certificate from Public Health.
- Completed recognized course in housekeeping is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE
- Up to one month of current related experience preferably in a long term care geriatric setting.
- Experience in operating and utilizing commercial/institutional equipment and products.
SKILLS
- Knowledge of kitchen operating procedures and food storage and safekeeping.
- Ability to read menus.
- Safety and fire regulation awareness.
- Must have a clear understanding of Canada's Food Guide.
- Must possess the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff and residents
- Ability to follow oral and written directive.
- High food standards with an interest to upgrade
- Goods standards of cleanliness and order
- Reliable and conscientious
- Well organized and have acceptable pace to meet time schedules
- Must be able to exercise judgment and initiative
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position
- Must have good attendance record.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check and submit a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate.
**Shift Information**:
Currently scheduled 8 hours days/evening/night shifts.. Must be willing and able to work up to 24 hours per week and declare availability of 32 hours per week
