**Job Summary**:
The Technical Officer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and modifying our various corporate networks in the regional offices and district offices.
- In cooperation with Information Technology Solutions and Services (ITSS) from HQ, coordinate, carry out, and maintain the technical modifications and installations of various corporate networks (telephony, computer, and telecommunications), including the Emergency Operations Centre, Internal Security, Imaging sector, and the internal communications networks of operational sectors.
- Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with communications networks. Evaluate, recommend, and adapt commercial products according to the Service's security standards.
- Support regional employees by analysing requirements, designing, developing, managing, testing and implementing CSIS information systems.
- Draft and recommend procedures for installing, maintaining, managing, and using our corporate and operational networks.
- Make recommendations regarding the maintenance, upgrading, and modification of various systems used for the region's operational and administrative needs, by updating skills in the computer, electronic, and telecommunications fields.
- Manage projects by implementing operational plans, objectives and by identifying resources required by liaising with counterparts.
- Train and support regional users and partners on information systems and equipment
- Act as the first respondent when a client requests computer and/or telecommunications services and support.
- Administer the regional information systems and equipment by analysing situation arising in various systems used for the region's operational and administrative needs by recommending upgrades, developing steps for resolutions/improvements, monitoring the equipment and recommending repairs, replacements and acquisitions.
- Facilitate the deployment of new systems software patches/upgrades/hardware and network management by developing, designing, testing and evaluating systems.
- Orchestrate the resolution of software/hardware problems, related to systems by liaising with engineers, technologists, contractors and operations personnel.

**Education**:
**LEVEL 7**

Undergraduate relevant degree, Technologist diploma, or College diploma/Quebec Cegep diploma of college studies or an Attestation of College Studies (ACS) and two (2) years of related experience*

The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.

Note: Any higher level of related education could be recognized as experience.

**LEVEL 6 (UNDERFILL)**

Undergraduate relevant degree, Technologist diploma, or College diploma/Quebec Cegep diploma of college studies.

**Experience**:
**LEVEL 7**

*Related experience is defined as 2 years of recent experience** in at least three (3) of the following area:

- Experience with networks and network security
- Experience working with enterprise IT service management tools and technologies.
- Experience working in a client service environment and in dealing with employees at difference levels.
- Experience analyzing requirements and/or providing advice and guidance on IT matters to various audiences such as clients and management.
- Experience in configuring or troubleshooting in a multi-system environment
- Experience in infrastructure and internet protocols
- Experience with telecommunication technologies
- Experience with operating systems and in script drafting

**Recent is defined by experience acquired over the last 10 years.

**LEVEL 6 (UNDERFILL)**

No experience requirement

**NOTE**: Sucessful underfill applicants will be appointed to the position as Level 06, underfilling the position until they reach the full working level. A training plan, including the required objectives to be reached, will be established in order to allow the employee the possibility of qualifying in the full Level 07 position. Failure to complete the training plan will result in the employee returning to his/her previous grade, in a position for which all requirements are met.
