We are seeking a reliable and hard-working Trades Arborist that has a passion for Arboriculture, Horticulture, and overall park maintenance. The Trades Arborist will report to the Maintenance Manager and will work under the direction of the Gardening & Grounds Foreperson, providing operational expertise with specific Garden & Grounds Maintenance and enhancement tasks, PMs and project-based work as assigned where applicable on and throughout all the PNE grounds.

**What will you do this year?**

In your role as an **Arborist**, your primary accountabilities will be to:

- Leading the team in Arboriculture, tree management, tree planting and tree removals.
- Completing Field Reports and Tree Inspections.
- Pruning, planting, and fertilizing all trees and large plant material.
- Shearing and pruning hedges, shrubs, and larger planter material.
- Performing other Horticultural task including planting, pruning and fall cleanup.
- Improve and implement best landscape practices following the Canadian Landscape Standards and ISA best practices.
- Assist with work set-up, completing projects and maintaining a safe clean work site.
- Operate vehicles and tools/equipment in compliance with all health and safety requirements as determined by WorkSafe BC, and all other applicable legislation and company policies.
- Operate mobile equipment (trucks, UTV’s, tractors and aerial platform) safely and responsibly.
- Perform related duties as assigned when required or requested by the team’s Foreperson and Maintenance Manager.

**What else?**
- Must have at least 7 years’ experience as an ISA Arborist with Falling and Bucking Certification.
- Must have experience in leading teams of workers to complete Arboriculture tasks, and Horticultural tasks asset.
- Ability to operate a variety of tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Must have a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and provide an up-to-date Driver’s Abstract confirming a clean driving record.
- Forklift and Aerial Platform experience and operator’s license and asset.
- Must be physically able to work in awkward positions.
- Must be a good communicator, capable of reading and writing for the purposes of written or oral instructions, timesheets and completing Limble Work Orders.
- Must be capable of working independently.
- Must be able to perform detail-oriented work accurately and effectively.
- Must have effective interpersonal skills, including tact diplomacy and flexibility to work effectively with management, staff, contractors, and the public.
