**The Opportunity**

The Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) is seeking a second Deputy Chief Electoral Officer (Deputy CEO) to work under the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). The Deputy CEO will be responsible for overseeing elections and helping to ensure the voting process is carried out in accordance with the Elections and Referenda Act.

The Deputy CEO will possess organizational, leadership, communication, and management skills that will facilitate and ensure the efficient and effective operations of upcoming Elections. Background knowledge on the MNA and the history of the Métis Nation of Alberta is preferred. Working knowledge of Cree and/or Michif is also preferred. Training will be provided as part of this role; however, the Deputy CEO will be expected to maintain a high degree of independence and be able to manage a team of staff.

The Deputy CEO is not an officer or employee of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.

**Skills & Competencies**
- Proven conflict resolution skills, including management of complaints.
- Excellent with problem solving issues that arise.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to adapt to new technology and software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience managing a team of more than 20 people.
- Adaptable and flexible with changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- Sound planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Exceptional organization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Possess political awareness and sensitivity when interacting with others.
- Ability to work well with a team or independently.

**Qualifications**
- Deep knowledge of elections and voting processes within Canada, at the Federal, Provincial, or Municipal level.
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science or an equivalent qualification. Persons with several years’ experience in a similar role will be considered.
- Experience as an Electoral Officer is considered an asset.
- Experience working with Indigenous organizations is considered an asset.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must not be an elected member of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
- Note: A person who is the spouse, child, brother, sister, mother, or father of an Elected Official is ineligible to be appointed Deputy Chief Electoral Officer.

**Other Requirements**
- Position will be based at the Métis Nation of Alberta Electoral Office in Edmonton, Alberta.
- Availability to work Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, with notice.
- Ability to travel throughout Alberta is a requirement.
- Reliable transportation and valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Must be able to provide a clear Police Information Check (Criminal Record Check).
