**Deputy Fire Chief - Operations**:
The City of Pitt Meadows is seeking an effective people leader to help ensure the day-to-day operations and training excellence of the department. Under the direction of the Fire Chief this position is responsible for providing respectful leadership and direction of all career staff and Paid on Call members.

The incumbent will be a key player in maintaining operational performance standards and ensuring compliance with relevant government and industry standards and legislation including Operational Guidelines, WorkSafe, city policies and collective agreements, and in maintaining current knowledge of industry best practices.

The Deputy is expected to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff and promote and foster a culture of collaboration, open communication, respect and quality services.

This position also plays a key role within the department to ensure that the direction of Council, the CAO and the Fire Chief is followed. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, who is able to form effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts, and possesses exemplary leadership and collaborative skills as they take on rotational responsibilities within various divisional areas within the department and participate on committees and task forces outside the department.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Have completed formal post-secondary degree, diploma or program in Business Administration, Fire Service Leadership or a related (complimentary) field
- Must have and maintain a safe BC Class 5 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement, or better.
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience working within an IAFF Career and POC Composite staffing model will be considered an asset.
- Relevant experience in labour relations and collective bargaining

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
