**The Role***:
**Responsibilities**:
The role is to assist in the daily operational support of a virtual server environment, with a focus on a VMware virtualized hosting infrastructure. Excellent customer focus and client service skills, a proven ability to function in both individual and team environments, and exceptional technical troubleshooting and problem resolution skills are desired.

The contracted resource must adhere to existing policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and practices.

**Duties**:
Responsible for proactively maintaining and improving the server core infrastructure functionality and to work within existing procedures and guidelines to meet client business requirements.
- Perform problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and resolution.
- Perform hardware and OS installations, migrations and/or upgrades.
- Plan for software and hardware upgrades and/or migrations.
- Develop and maintain documentation.
- Maintain operating systems and associated infrastructure software.
- Develop system related procedures.
- Provide cross training and knowledge transfer to other server team members on relevant aspects of hardware and software support.

**Equipment requirements**:

- Client will supply laptop or desktop

**Required Skills and Experience**:

- Experience performing upgrades of Windows Server versions 2012 or 2016 to Windows Server versions 2019 or 2022.
- Experience provisioning and supporting VMware ESXi 7.0 in an environment of 20 or more hosts.
- Industry experience working as a server support analyst supporting Windows 2019 or 2022.
- Experience automating tasks within Windows and vCenter utilizing PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible or other.
- Experience deploying updates using a centralized patch management tool (Ivanti, SCCM, WSUS, LCM or other).
- Experience managing resource capacities in a VMware ESXi environment.
- Experience upgrading Windows servers.
- Experience using HP OneView to manage C7000 blade enclosures and Synergy Frames.
- Experience with HP server hardware: C7000 blade enclosures, Synergy Frames, and their related compute modules.
- Experience with Service Now or alternative ticker management system for Change Management, Incident Management and Service Requests.
- Hands on experience working in a complex environment requiring prioritization of tasks and deliverables.
- Hands on experience working in a multi-team IT support environment providing services to other teams and clients.
- Industry experience working as a server support analyst supporting Azure Stack HCI

**Working Hours**:

- Standard Hours of work are 08:15 - 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the Province
- Work must be done from Edmonton or Calgary, due to datacenter proximity.
- It is anticipated the role will be 100% remote, however in the event of an onsite meeting, does not pay for travel to attend on-site meetings, nor any expenses related to relocation, commuting, housing/accommodation, food/drink.

**Notes on Location**:
There is a possibility the resource may be able to work remotely, though must be available for onsite meetings when required. Onsite work would be approximately once every couple months, depending on requirements on the project.
