**CATEGORY SPECIALIST - 6 Month Contract**

We are seeking a Category Specialist to support our Corporate Purchasing team located in Vernon, BC for a contract term of 6 months.

The Category Specialist is responsible for providing administrative and analytical support to the Category Manager(s). Success will come from developing relationships with our brand, broker and distributor partners as well as our internal store department teams. Challenging the status quo will be essential in increasing our department sales, capitalizing on gross margin opportunities, and supporting the Category Manager(s) with strategically growing their business.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:
**Data Administration**
- Maintenance of tax treatment and updating of deposits & eco fees
- Price List/MAP Maintenance-ensure that cost change notifications are received at least 90 days prior to effective date, taking blackout period into consideration
- Trouble shoot and problem solve for Category Manager(s)
- Price & Cost Changes-process cost change forms submitted by vendors. Send to category manager for review and finalization
- Participate in department conference calls, send out agendas and recap notes after the call.
- General administration, including but not limited to:

- New Item listing
- Delisting/Discontinued items
- Description Changes
- Vendor changes
- UPC Maintenance
- Item Data Maintenance
- Broker Maintenance
- Vendor Maintenance

**Analysis**
- Gather and analyze data within systems to support department on determining trends, understanding successes and challenges and supporting decision making for new listings and delists
- Review gross margin targets and identify opportunities and challenges, providing insights on next steps.
- Submit reports and prepare proposals as required by Category Manager(s)

**Sales & Promotions**
- Review efficacy of promotions through flyer reporting and provide analysis to Category Manager(s)
- Assist with ensuring special promotional material is provided within assigned deadlines

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Business certificate program or related education required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related role
- Experience using ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems, such as LOC Store Management System (SMS), considered a strong asset
- Experience participating in a new system implementation considered an asset
- Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office Suite (Advanced Excel required. Experience using PowerBI a strong asset.)
- Strong analytical skills with experience collecting, organizing, analyzing and disseminating abundant information with accuracy
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
