Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Licence or Truck Transport Mechanic Certificate or Agriculture Mechanic certificate.
- Valid Class 5 drivers license (upgrade to Class 3 with air endorsement for road testing of highways related equipment (i.e., tandem trucks).

Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Licence or Truck Transport Mechanic Certificate or Agriculture Mechanic certificate.
- Extensive experience as a Journeyman mechanic in the areas of diagnostic, repair, and maintenance of highway construction and maintenance equipment (graders, loaders, tandems, etc).
- Excellent knowledge of highway construction and maintenance equipment (i.e., hydraulic and air brake systems, power trains, electrical and hydraulic systems).
- Experience in metal work including welding, and use of acetylene torches.
- Effective written communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver technical information in a clear and concise manner for a variety of audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills including experience in handling situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrated good judgment.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Proficient using Microsoft’s Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel).
- Ability to adapt and learn new procedures.

**Desired**:

- Willing to train on departmental data entry system (Keys).
- Experience using diagnostic software is desired.

**Duties**:
This position provides technical and administrative assistance to the Manager, Heavy Duty Fleet. Duties include the responsibility for the overall quality of new equipment purchased by the Department, the timeliness of its delivery and providing the initial training to ensure safe, effective utilization.
