**About FAVA & Position Opportunity**

FAVA is a non-profit, charitable, member-based society that exists to facilitate and support affordable access to production, exhibition, distribution, and preservation of independent film, video and screen media art in
Northern Alberta. FAVA welcomes individuals from all backgrounds, with a community-oriented drive to assist our members and community partners. FAVA is looking for an individual with self-drive and high motivation, who is looking for the opportunity to learn multiple facets of film, video, art and community while continuing their professional and artistic development.

**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Equipment Manager will be responsible for managing FAVAs production department and technical staff, including our equipment rental services, and services on offer. The
Equipment Manager will be responsible for managing daily technical operations and technical maintenance of FAVA equipment/assets. The Equipment Manager will lead the technical department through excellent day-to-day member relations including providing technical support and guidance to the FAVA membership as they navigate their technical experience. A central role of the Equipment Manager will be facilitating the mentorship and training of emerging technical department staff and FAVA members. The Equipment
Manager will train technical staff to provide stellar technical support/services, customer service and member services. This role actively participates and contributes to professional, collaborative, and respectful teams at the staff level, project level and committee level.

**Equipment Manager Duties and Responsibilities Summary**
- Manages technical inquiries, production equipment pick-ups and returns.
- Responsible for FAVA’s production equipment including repairs, identifying maintenance issues, fulfilling maintenance and ensuring safety protocols.
- Works with the department managers on preparing equipment for FAVA programming and events.
- Understanding troubleshooting issues with all aspect of FAVAs equipment inventory (video & analog equipment).
- Researches new technologies and software as appropriate to the department.
- Reports on the condition of the production equipment and current status of equipment on an ongoing basis.
- Works alongside the Production Committee and Chief of Staff to review technical equipment and services in relation to members needs in order to prepare recommendations for future acquisitions.
- Responsible for ensuring members accessing production equipment are properly trained and accredited. Including but not limited to vetting members technical experience, providing training, resources, or testing on equipment to ensure proper checks and balances.

**Finance & Administration Duties Summary**
- Responsible for researching and pursuing funding opportunities for equipment and production opportunities, in collaboration with the Chief of Staff and Fund Development Officer.
- Prepares regular reports on equipment, maintenance, acquisitions, and production and forwards them to the Chief of Staff, Board of Directors, and granting bodies on activities and operations as required.
- Manages equipment and departmental budget in consultation with the Chief of Staff and/or the
Executive Director and Fund Development Officer; maintains current information on both actual and projected expenses, presents interiM/Final budget to the Executive Team as required.

**Qualifications Include**
- Self-directed and driven to learn and evolve in the department.
- Strong technical abilities related to production.
- Strong analytical, reporting and writing skills.
- Able to create and manage small and large-scale budgets.
- Ability to be self-sustaining in the department, among being able to work collaboratively with other department heads.
- Ability to problem solve on the fly.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Providing excellent customer service to our members and the community with strong communication skills both written and verbally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Create Cloud.
- A Diploma or degree in an arts, film, or digital media program preferred however not required.

**Expectations**:
This job may sometimes require time and commitment outside of regular working hours including during lunch breaks, evenings and weekends. Depending on the situation, compensation for these needs can be addressed through adjusting the standard workday schedule or banking hours with Chief of Staff
