We are looking for motivated Furance/Plant Operators to join our team. Plant Operators are responsible for the productive & efficient operations of diversified equipment for the manufacture of product in an assigned department within production. The priority is to ensure the service and quality of products on the production floor, which covers a wide range of activities including manufacturing, inspection, and packaging.
Areas may include (but not limited to): packaging, crushing systems, and arch furnace work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work consists of miscellaneous assignment throughout the plant.
- Performs all duties in a safe, responsible manner, observing all plant and government regulations. Observes and reports all unsafe conditions immediately to the Shift Supervisor.
- Ensures that quality is maintained by following current standard operating procedures.
- Fulfill all requirements of the job to which the employee is assigned.
- Contacts the Shift Supervisor immediately if encountering difficulty in operating the facilities safely and at an acceptable quality and productivity level.
- Must maintain an excellent standard of housekeeping and order in the work area adhering to 5S Standards.
- Perform all other duties and assignments as and when requested by the Shift Supervisor.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:
- Must be familiar with methods of lading and storing various materials.
- Must be able to use common tools such as shovel, pick, sledge hammer, broom etc.
- Must maintain an efficient operation by meeting safety, quality, good housekeeping to 5S Plant Standards and productivity standards.
- Must be conscientious, dependable and cooperate with the Shift Supervisor and peers to achieve an efficient and harmonious operation.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
All employees must be able to fulfill the following requirements:
- Physically able of performing the job (stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move items weighing up to 50-60 pounds, with or without accommodations)
- Must be adaptable to a variety of jobs.
- Must comprehend oral and written instructions sufficiently to carry them out properly and efficiently.
- Must be familiar with and observe all Company safety rules and regulations. Able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions.
- Must complete all safety training as assigned.
- Participate in World Class Manufacturing activities as requested.
- Must adhere to the General Principles of Conduct and Action of the Saint-Gobain Group.
- Good communication skills exhibiting ability to interact with co-workers, plant staff and management personnel
- HS Diploma/Equivalent is required
- Previous forklift truck certification preferred
- Previous experience in a manufacturing work environment is preferred
