Position Summary

- Support the development and achievement of Department goals;
- Manage Medical Staff resources, scheduling, volumes, workflow, etc.;
- Support recruitment and orientation initiatives of the Department;
- Participates in planning on behalf of the Department for New St. Paul’s and any other redevelopment opportunities;
- Partner with operational leadership and external stakeholders;
- Support and develop quality of care and patient safety initiatives;
- Evaluate the quality of medical care delivered in the Department of Emergency Medicine;
- Attend regular and ad hoc meetings as required to carry out the duties of the role; and
- Stand-in for the Head, Department of Emergency Medicine (the “Department Head”) as required.

In completing their responsibilities, the POL will work in collaboration with the Physician Program Director, Emergency Services and the Program Director, Emergency Services. The POL reports to the Chief Operations Officer and the Department Head, and is accountable to the Vice President of Medical Affairs, through the Department Head, for academic and professional practice matters.
The time commitment under this contract is approximately up to 6 hours (0.75 days) per week, with a leadership stipend in accordance with the Health Employers Association of British Columbia Medical Leadership Compensation Framework. This position is for a 3 year term, with the possibility of renewal.

- have credibility among their peers and the ability to build strategic partnerships across Providence.
