**Job Description**:
**Position Summary**:

- The Pharmacy Technician, Oncology is a member of the oncology pharmacy team reporting to the Manager, Pharmacy Oncology.
- The Pharmacy Technician allocated to this project will be responsible for the accurate collection and entry of Best Possible Medication Histories for oncology patients.
- The Pharmacy Technician, Oncology works collaboratively with other members of the pharmacy team to ensure optimal patient care relating to best possible medication histories in the oncology setting
- The Pharmacy Technician, Oncology reflects the mission, vision and values of RVH, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

**Education and Licensing**:

- Registered Pharmacy Technician, in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Graduate of an Accredited Pharmacy Technician College or Program, preferred

**Experience**:

- Minimum two (2) years of recent practical experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital setting, with Oncology Pharmacy experience preferred

**Competencies**:

- Working knowledge of NAPRA standards for Sterile Hazardous Compounding
- General knowledge of MEDITECH Pharmacy modules
- Knowledge of Pharmacy automation, including: RIVA
- Familiarity with all processes and technology related to oncology medication compounding and distribution
- Ability to handle a variety of complex tasks and issues promptly and efficiently while meeting conflicting deadlines
- Sound problem solving, communications (oral and written), conflict resolution and decision making skills
- Excellent organizational skills and time management
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Demonstrate commitment to the professional growth and development of self and others

**Responsibilities**:

- Conducts patient interviews using two independent validated sources of information reflective of a patient's medication history.
- Compiles information from all sources electronically into a best possible medication history.
- Accurately enters the BPMH into ARIA and/or Meditech electronically according to the FDB database.
- Participates on various teams and committee, as required, at both the hospital and departmental level.
- Performs quality and safety audits, as required relevant to BPMH.
- Trains new technicians.
- Works in a manner that is compliant with standards and information from the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP), Ontario College of Pharmacists, and Accreditation Canada.
