**FireSmart Coordinator**:

The FireSmart Coordinator reports to and works closely with the Fire Chief and others to support and advance the Nelson FireSmart Program. This is a full time term position until December 31, 2023. The Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring FireSmart activities are supported, developed and implemented in accordance with FireSmartBC principles and guidelines, as well as the direction and policy of the City of Nelson. The FireSmart Coordinator will organize and facilitate the delivery of the Nelson FireSmart program, rebate programs, public outreach, schedule and support the Local FireSmart Representatives (Nelson firefighters) to conduct Home Ignition Zone Assessments and support the City’s wildfire mitigation efforts as well as liaise with residents, businesses, program partners and stakeholders.

**Qualified applicants will**:

- Have some knowledge of fire prevention, FireSmart and emergency preparedness programs; Have the ability to effectively deliver educational outreach materials to a variety of audiences; Have some knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook etc)
- Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrates ability to deal tactfully with coworkers, community representatives and the public on various matters;
- Strong written and oral communication skills including exceptional presentation and public speaking; Be energetic, charismatic and have the ability to engage the public;

**Rate of Pay**:$31.75 per hour

**Hours/Days of Work**:37.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday)

**Start Date**:ASAP
