The C&C Team is responsible for acquiring and making accessible the library resources required to meet curriculum and research needs at the University of Guelph. The Team consists of a Collection Development unit that is responsible for the development of the library’s print and electronic collections; an Acquisitions and Resource Management unit who acquire and make content available and discoverable to our users; and an E-learning and Reserves unit that manages course content. In addition, the Team provides expertise to other teams, cross-functional committees and our consortial partners as required.

Reporting to the Head, C&C, the Collections & Content Librarian:

- Engages in the following collections activities to support curriculum and research for the College of Arts and the School of Engineering and other disciplines as required:

- collection development for both open access and paywalled resources, with special attention to collecting materials from diverse communities
- budget management
- collection management
- collection assessment
- communication and outreach
- Provides leadership on lifecycle management of print and other physical materials (such as microform, CD-ROMs, etc.)
- Monitors provincial and national developments in print preservation initiatives and as necessary suggests ways that Guelph might best participate in them
- Foster good communication and effective working relationships with colleagues, faculty, staff, and library users
- Engages in other projects, as required

Success in this position is dependent on teamwork, collegiality, and strong communication skills. We will provide extensive training on collection development practices at the University of Guelph and the broader scholarly communication landscape.

**Qualifications Required**:

- An ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library and information science or equivalent
- Knowledge of or experience in collection development, collection management or scholarly communication
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a collaborative team environment
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Ability to set goals, prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Intellectual curiosity and an ability to identify and creatively solve problems
- A willingness to take initiative
- A commitment to ongoing professional development

**Qualifications Preferred**:

- Experience managing a budget
- Experience with assessment
- Experience with work related to equity, diversity, inclusion, or decolonialization/Indigenization either in a library or non-library setting
- Experience working with researchers, staff, students in the Humanities or Engineering
