**KEY FUNCTION**:
Lead recruitment and retention of physician initiatives and coordinate related activities and follow-ups.
**REPORTING**:
Under the general direction of the Administrative Director, Office of the Chief of Staff.
**DUTIES**:
- Co-chair the Medical Human Resources Planning Committee, determine recruitment goals and act as primary liaison for annual Medical Human Resources planning process.
- Coordinate HSN’s Impact Analysis process, identify and plan for resource impacts with cross-organizational leadership, develop and negotiate physician position offers to support physician recruitment and retention.
- Plan, measure, and forecast capacity of HSN and its medical staff in conjunction with the Medical HR Planning Committee and medical leadership.
- Design and create processes that support corporate initiatives related to medical staff succession management, performance, equity, diversity, inclusion and engagement and retention.
- Lead data collection, analysis, and synthesis through stakeholder engagement, literature reviews, and interviews while providing comprehensive organizational insight for design, planning, and implementation.
- Monitor trends in national and international physician workforce and make evidence-based improvement recommendations and plans based on best practices.
- Participate in the interview and selection process of potential recruits.
- Identify, develop, and implement strategies for recruiting and retaining physicians, including advertising and social media; advance social media strategy and internal web portal to reach prospective physicians.
- Manage costs of the physician recruitment budget and submit expenses for approval and payment.
- Assist the Chief of Staff with the coordination of physician engagement initiatives to support retention and medical staff development.
- Attend recruitment fairs/conferences and maintain network of contacts for possible recruitment opportunities.
- Lead new physician orientation sessions, monitor integration of new physicians, and continuously improve onboarding processes.
- Develop and organize a variety of documents, including reports, spreadsheets, presentations, policies, letters, and memos in an accurate and professional format.
- Maintain strict adherence to HSN’s policies and procedures, Credentialed Professional Staff By-laws, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and the Public Hospital Act.
- Determine and align improvement projects with Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders/organizations/community groups to achieve program objectives, integrate and link services, and foster partnerships across the continuum of service delivery.
- Liaise with Health Force Ontario (HFO) to confirm program funding eligibility.
- In collaboration with Department Chiefs, lead exit interviews for medical staff and escalate issues and trends to the Chief of Staff and Administrative Director.
- Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
- Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
- Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
- Provide support and cross-coverage to team members as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
**EDUCATION AND TRAINING**:
- Minimum of a four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Communications or a related field, from an accredited university.
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
**EXPERIENCE**:
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working within a health care environment.
- One (1) year experience working in a Physician Recruitment role is preferred.
**KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES**:
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, including Freedom of Information (FOI), Quality of Care Information Protection Act (QCIPA), Public Hospitals Act (PHA), and the Professional Association of Interns and Residents of Ontario (PAIRO).
- Demonstrated knowledge of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) pathways to physician licensure, the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), Ministry of Health and Long-term Care programs/funding, Immigration processes/programs, Public Hospitals Act, and Ontario Hospital Association.
