**ABOUT YOU**
Your passion for decarbonizing electricity and your project management know-how will help the Energy
Team effectively move their campaigns from conception to implementation. You thrive working in collaborative environments and building relationships to partner with organizations, private sector and the public.

**YOUR FOCUS**
As Energy Coordinator you will be responsible for strengthening and helping to coordinate EAC’s work in energy policy advocacy, research, program development and campaigning. Your initial focus will be a campaign on offshore wind. You will be working closely with other Energy Team members.

**_Key elements of the position will be: _**
- Evaluating energy-related policy, systems and regulations thorough technical analysis, and bringing expertise to stakeholder consultations, regulatory proceedings and advisory boards.
- Conducting research related to best practices in offshore wind development, interregional transmission planning and the emerging hydrogen market in Atlantic Canada, and communicating relevant finding to other staff within the organization
- Delivering EAC’s messages to stakeholders, responding to media requests and being a spokesperson as needed.   
- Working with EAC communications staff to create content for media, social media, and internal and external publications such as briefing notes, summary reports, and press releases.
- Consulting with Energy team members to build coalitions and bridge efforts, initiatives and campaigns related to decarbonizing the electricity sector in Nova Scotia
- Creating and implementing plans to maintain and expand EAC’s reach by identifying opportunities for partnerships and through public outreach, community events and EAC initiatives.  
- Identifying and supporting the pursuit of fundraising and grant opportunities;   
- Support the overall work of the Ecology Action Centre; and  
- Other duties as required.   

**WHAT YOU WILL BRING**
- At least two years of experience in organizing, planning and/or supporting environmental advocacy campaigns in either a professional or volunteer capacity 
- Education or training in engineering, natural sciences, law, or public policy.   
- Familiarity with provincial and national energy and environmental regulations and legislation.   
- Clear knowledge of the electricity sector and the policy landscape in Nova Scotia  
- Demonstrated experience conducting research and taking complex or technical information and transforming the details into engaging narratives  
- Strong interest in the greater effects of climate change on different communities and peoples based on gender, race, class, geography, etc. and the relationship between climate change, social justice, and community health.   
- Comfort and experience in public speaking.  
- Proven skills in reviewing and compiling research on topics of interest, and excellent communication skills, both oral and written.   
- Project management skills including experience managing projects and budgets, and knowledge of developing funding proposals.   
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, effectively manage multiple tasks and use of time efficiently.
- Strong work ethic and motivation to work on climate change  
- Computer literacy in MS Office, including Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.   
- Willing to utilize social media and traditional mass media, and work with web-based platforms.
- Available some evenings and weekends and willing to travel.   

**These additional skills, areas of knowledge and experiences will be considered an asset**:

- Experience working on energy-related field in Nova Scotia 
- Prior experience identifying and supporting the pursuit of fundraising and grant opportunities
- Experience working for a non-profit organization, government, academic institution, First Nation

Band, co-op, labour organization, or community enterprise.   
- Experience working with governments on policy matters.   

**WHAT WE OFFER**
- Starting salary range is $49,600 to $57,600, based on level of knowledge, experience and skills.
- This is a full-time position, to start in January.
- EAC is currently piloting a 4-day work week, 30 hours per week, Monday through Thursday. Pilot continues until June 2023.
