Why is this role important?
- Under the direction of the Team Lead, HR Operations the HR Generalist provides general advice and guidance to client groups in the areas of policy interpretation, leave administration, accommodation, learning and professional development, new hire orientation and total rewards in keeping with HR programs, policies, practices and procedures.
- What you'll do
- 1. Acts as first point of contact on HR matters to assigned clients. Provides advice and guidance in all areas of prescribed HR policies, programs, procedures, and systems. Brings more complex issues forward to the Team Lead, HR Services.
- 2. Fosters employee engagement by providing a positive employee experience throughout the employee life cycle. Oversees and conducts the delivery of corporate orientation to new staff, reboarding orientations to returning staff; conducts three-month check-ins, exit interviews and other relevant employee check-ins.
- 3. In collaboration with the Organization Development Consultant, performs operational activities associated with assigned Learning and Professional Development (L&PD) program portfolio - answers questions from staff, monitors L&PD inbox for questions related to assigned areas, creates purchase orders, manages invoices, tracks course logistics, maintains process documentation, and recommends process enhancements.
- 4. Oversees leave administration and disability management (pregnancy, parental, LOA, STD/LTD) for employees in assigned client group. Drafts memos, works with internal/external stakeholders, coordinates internal processes, and provides information/updates to employees/managers.
- 5. Provides clients first level technical troubleshooting support for HR systems and partners with business analyst, as required.
- 6. Supports the Team Lead with employee accommodation requests and facilitates the implementation of accommodation requirements.
- 7. Ensures the provision of group support for HR program launches and ongoing maintenance and operation of HR programs, policies and special projects as required.
- 8. Other duties as required.
- What you'll bring to the table
- University degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or other related degree, or combination of education/experience. CHRP designation preferred.
- 2 years related experience in providing or supporting the delivery front line Human Resources services.
- Experience using an HRIS system required. High level proficiency with MS Office suite of tools is required.
- A strong commitment to customer service with experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal, organization, communication, and negotiation skills with ability to effectively meet competing deadlines.
- Ability to work in fast-paced and demanding environment and to work collaboratively in a virtual team environment.
- Fluency in both official languages is preferred.
