**JOB** SUMMARY**: The **Manager of Parks and Recreation** reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Senior Manager of Parks and Recreation. Works collaboratively with Directors/Senior Managers/Supervisors of Six Nations of the Grand River (SNGR).
**PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION**:
The Parks and Recreation Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the Parks and Recreation department, managing the day-to-day activities of parks, facilities, and recreational programs. This position directly supervises all Parks and Recreation staff leads, ensuring that services are provided effectively, facilities are well-maintained and occupational health and safety standards are adhered to. The Parks and Recreation Manager plays a critical role in implementing the strategic direction set by the Senior Manager, translating it into actionable operations, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and regulations.
The incumbent will be required to provide leadership that involves maintaining strong interpersonal relationships with staff, visitors, and community members which includes dealing with individuals and groups in conflict resolution, problem solving, and team building.
The incumbent will provide leadership that is aligned and supportive of SNGR organizational strategies and the 2019 Community Plan including any future editions/updates.

**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor degree or college diploma in Recreation, Physical Education, Commerce, Business Administration or related field AND three (3) years of management experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, negotiation, communication, delegation, critical thinking, team building and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing budgets and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with community members.

- Ability to take direction, prioritize tasks, work independently and cope with many competing demands

- Proficiency in computer skills and Microsoft office - MS Work, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook
- Demonstrated experience providing cultural safe care within a First Nations community
