Utilities Branch is currently recruiting one (1) Engineering Student to support the team in the following area:
The Opportunity
Utilities Infrastructure Student / Project Assistant

The Utilities Infrastructure Student will assist the Utilities Project Manager and Construction Supervisor with day-to-day activities. You will assist on various utilities construction projects, including construction site inspections related to utilities infrastructure rehabilitation (i.e. water, wastewater and storm service replacements/repairs, catch basins and fire hydrants, and outfalls).

The role is a split of 40% office and 60% field depending on the daily activities required. A working vehicle and valid driver’s license will be required for this position.

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of first year in Civil Engineering at a University.
- Currently enrolled in 2nd, 3rd or 4th year in Civil Engineering at a University (or completion of undergraduate degree)
- Previous experience with databases, report writing, presentations, data collection and compilation is desirable.
- Knowledge of municipal standards would also be beneficial.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license and use of personal vehicle is required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
This position may be in receipt of Canada Summer Jobs funding and therefore to be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria outlined by the Canada Summer Jobs program:

- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; and
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*; and
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Hours of Work
40 hours per week. (Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) Note - hours may extend outside of the typical 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (may include weekend or night shifts from time to time) for data collection or site supervision involvement.
Compensation
- $20.00 per hour - Completion of 1st Year Civil Engineering
- $22.00 per hour - Completion of 2nd Year Civil Engineering
- $23.00 per hour - Completion of 3rd Year Civil Engineering
- $26.00 per hour - Completion of 4th Year Civil Engineering
