**Position Purpose summary**:
The Evening Shift Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, instruction, and coordination of a set range of department(s) related duties in accordance with the Salvation Army mission, values, and standards. The incumbent is responsible for supporting front-line staff requirements within established guidelines. The incumbent will also work in collaboration with the Department Heads for services relating to SonRise, and Emergency & Transitional Housing.

**Accountabilities**:
**Programming**:

- In consultation with the Department Heads, assist with programming to ensure continuity of services and ensure program needs are met.
- Assess community needs and review client feedback to determine potential alternate programing and develop a strategy for the implementation of such programs.
- Manage unplanned shift vacancies for related departments in accordance with policy and collective agreement
- Ensure vacancies are filled with staff that are qualified in the department
- Ensure completion of incident and other reports, and statistical recording as directed, in a timely, accurate, and organized manner.
- Prepare a summary of concerns at the end of every shift to be forwarded to the Department Head(s)
- Identify all program concerns and report to the Department Heads
- Observe, understand, and use group dynamics to address and resolve behaviors in a calm, professional manner.
- May propose engaging activities for the clients to participate in and develop relationships in consultation with Department Heads
- Ensures a walk-through of each department throughout the shift. Available to support all departments as needed
- May coordinate with Case Workers for items needed by COH participants.
- Understands and may advise on the implementation of policies, procedures, and programs.
- May manage referrals into shelter, from other agencies, and hospitals, as needed.

**Supervision**:

- Function as a group work leader by providing practical supports, guidance, and mentorship to staff while on duty.
- Motivate the team and ensure the work environment, is safe and healthy.
- Monitor safety practices ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and report any concerns to the Department Heads
- May provide support to participant or staff in completing complaint forms as required and advise Department Heads as per policy
- Assist the Department heads, with supervision, and evaluation of staff.
- Ensure that staff completes all documentation in a timely manner, including all files, maintenance of daily documentation, logbooks, incident, and statistical reports.

**Community**:

- Network and refer to The Salvation Army or community social service providers to coordinate resources for the benefit of participants and program, when necessary.
- Attend inter-agency and other social service agency community groups as directed.

**MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY**:

- Reports directly to Program Director, but will collaborate with other Department Heads
- The Evening Shift Coordinator functions as a team lead, providing supports and direction on tasks.

**FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT**:

- Responsible to work within departmental budgets, in consultation with the Program Director or Department Heads
- Responsible for guidance to E&TC regarding proper till count, and deposit
- Responsible for the safekeeping of materials and equipment

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Required to lift/move materials up to 25 lbs

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**:

- Working with participants who are homeless with physical, emotional, and psychiatric needs.
- Working in emotional, self-harm and/or suicidal as well as high levels of stress related situations.
- Works on-call and carries required communication device (i.e. radio or cell phone)
