Position Summary

Primary responsibility is to oversee and enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance throughout our operations. Lead safety training programs, conduct audits, and ensure that all drivers and staff adhere to industry safety standards and company policies. Role also involves investigating and addressing safety incidents, implementing corrective actions, and fostering a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement.

Location: Guelph, Ontario

Schedule: 40 hours

What you will do

  • As a member of the Incident Response Team (IRT), assist / coordinat or lead first response calls and investigations, including Haz-Mat spills – dock and on-road.
  • Conduct post collision interviews with drivers along with your Operations team.
  • Identify accident causes using root cause analysis and provide recommendations for prevention
  • Ensure all accident/incident information is entered into the S&C database
  • Conduct periodic "safety blitzes", focusing on driver documentation regulatory compliance and mechanical safety & compliance of the vehicle "Tag program" JSO's
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures related to S&C are followed (coach, train, mentor)
  • Conduct driver evaluations; ride-alongs, road tests, all classes
  • Track and report on safety activities to improve safety within your division(s) .
  • Review speedGuage reports and action accordingly
  • Report weekly results and activities during weekly team calls with Safety and Compliance Manager.
  • Deliver training programs & orientations, both in-class and on-line; TDG, WHMIS, Moffett, Cargo load securement, forklift, tailgate, weights & dimension, A & B train, remedial training; remedial and / or in-cab instruction and coaching to newer and to experienced drivers when required.
  • Assist in Pro Trainer program regionally
  • Review and ensure all new hires meet US Drug and Alcohol requirements
  • Arranging for drivers D&A testing

What You'll Bring

  • 3 years of relevant experience
  • High school diploma
  • Must have a valid Class 1 license
  • Subject Matter Expert regrading Provincial regulations for provinces of responsibility; regional long combination vehicle (LCV); orientation training, hours of service (HOS); pre-trip inspections; cargo load securement and transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Fleet Driver Trainer experience and / or PDIC experience
  • Carriers edge online training knowledge
