We areseekingan organized,detail-oriented,and analyticalprofessionalwho will beaccountable for investigating complaints/reports dealing with a diverse range of issuesin accordance withlegislated requirements and department policies.

Reporting to theManager, Investigations,the key areas of responsibility are to:

• Receive and review initial complaints and information to gain a comprehensive understanding of the issue to be investigated.
• Identifyissues to be investigated and develop a comprehensive plan to investigate the complaint/report.
• Conduct investigations into complaints/reports.
• Determinetechniquesrequiredto carry-out thorough and objective investigations.
• Identify,obtainand analyze information and documentation relevant to the investigation.
• Identifydiscrepancies and gaps in information.
• Conduct telephone interviews with key witnesses and draftinterviewsummaries.
• Document all verbal communication in relation to the investigation.
• Conduct inquiries tolocatewitnesses and other informationrequiredto inform the investigation.
• Prepare documentationrequiredto obtain information and document findings related to an investigation.
• Organize and compile investigation records.
• Provide testimonyregardinginvestigative content and/or process in disciplinaryhearings.

Qualifications

• Two or three-year college program.
• Bilingualism (French/English Level C1, CEFRL) isrequired.
• 1 to 3 years’ experience in the regulatory or early childhood education sector.
• Knowledge of investigation techniques to enable collection of information.
• Knowledge of the early childhood education sector as well as professional regulation.
• Knowledge and understanding of legal and administrative law principles.
• Knowledge of the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007 and familiarity with the College’sCode of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
• Judgement and analytical skills to assess risks andidentifyissues.
• Flexibility to work well independently and in a team in an environment.
• Written communication skills to prepare detailed andaccurateinvestigative documentation.
• Listening, verbal communication and relationship building skills to communicate with a variety of stakeholders(e.g. courts, Police, complainants, employers).
• Resilience,tactand diplomacy to communicate with occasionally irate and frustrated individuals on sensitive matters.
• Professional judgment to ensure that informationdisclosedisappropriateand tomaintainneutrality towards all cases/ issuesencounteredin the role.
• Attention to detail to prepareaccuratesummaries of investigation files andtime management skills.
