Surveying Technician

We are seeking a versatile Survey & CAD Technician to support our ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) construction projects in the Toronto area. This role combines field surveying and construction layout with office-based CAD/drafting work, ensuring accurate site measurements, layout, and as-built documentation. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to translate design plans into reality and maintain precision throughout construction. Key Responsibilities: Field / Surveying Tasks: Conduct construction staking, site layout, and control surveys Operate total stations, GPS, laser levels, and other survey equipment Perform survey calculations for elevations, coordinates, and offsets Verify locations and elevations of structures against design plans Collect data for as-built and topographic surveys Office / CAD Tasks: Convert field survey data into accurate CAD drawings (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar) Prepare site plans, grading plans, and as-built documentation Maintain and update construction records and drawings Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure design compliance Qualifications: Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field Strong experience in field surveying and CAD drafting Proficiency with survey equipment (total stations, GPS, laser scanning) and CAD software Excellent math, measurement, and calculation skills Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively in an office environment Experience in ICI construction projects is a strong plus
