Are you detail oriented with a background in Automotive Dealership Accounting? As a Controller at Stratford Honda , you will assume a pivotal role in steering the financial health and performance of UpAuto , our automotive dealership group. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards. Your strategic insights and meticulous financial management will play a crucial part in driving profitability and maintaining the financial integrity of our dealership group.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to optimize profitability and ensure long-term financial stability
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts for the dealership group
  • Prepare the detailed monthly financial statements, in keeping with the dealer’s instructions and the manufacturer’s time frame and format; ensure that all manufacturer accounts are up-to-date and accurate – specifically those concerning warranty claims, discounts, interest rate protection and industry advertising
  • Coordinate and manage financial audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Analyze financial performance and variances, providing insights and recommendations to senior management for decision-making
  • Monitor the supervision of accounts receivable and sales/purchases of vehicle documentation
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks
  • Collaborate with department heads to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and maximize revenue opportunities
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and financing activities to support operational needs and strategic initiatives
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement

Successful Candidates Possess:

  • University degree in the field of Accounting, and/or comparable dealership accounting experience (a must)
  • Designation preferred: CA, CPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the overall operation of a retail automotive dealership's accounting procedures
  • User knowledge of Dealership DMS: PBS (preferred)
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills - must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Strong intellect with a well-developed business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks for self and others and follow them through to completion
  • Demonstrated recognition that customer satisfaction is the prime concern of the dealership
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate others
  • An understanding and a willingness to allow others to learn through experience
  • Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate activities of all dealership departments
  • Proven and demonstrated history of successful departmental and personnel management
  • Thorough understanding of expense control re: inventory, floor plan, and personnel
  • Organizational ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goals

  • The expected compensation range for this role is $85,000- $105,000 /year (The range may vary based on experience and qualifications)

This compensation encompasses base salary and vacation pay as required under Ontario Regulation 476/24 made under the Employment Standards Act, 2000.
