*Job Overview* We are seeking a Litigation Lawyer to join our legal team. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing and litigating a variety of cases, providing expert legal advice, and representing clients in court proceedings. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex legal issues within a dynamic environment, with the benefit of referrals from our existing solicitor client base. The Litigation Lawyer will play a crucial role in ensuring our clients' legal interests are protected through strategic advocacy and thorough case preparation. *Firm Overview* Benson Law is a well-established firm in the Rutland neighbourhood of Kelowna, British Columbia. Our team is comprised of 4 lawyers and approximately 15 staff members; a small, close-knit group that fosters genuinely collaborative atmosphere. We take our work seriously—but not ourselves. We are supportive and grounded, and we value people who approach their work with both diligence and good humour. As a busy and varied litigation practice, everyone pitches in to make sure our clients are well-served. We enjoy what we do, and we aim to maintain a workplace where people can build long-term careers, develop their skills, and feel at home. *Responsibilities** Conduct comprehensive legal research using tools such as LexisNexis to support case strategies and legal arguments; * Draft, review, and revise legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, and contracts with precision and clarity; * Develop case strategies by analyzing facts, evidence, and applicable laws to build compelling arguments; * Negotiate settlements and other agreements on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes; * Represent clientsin court proceedings, hearings, depositions, and mediations with professionalism and confidence; * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and legal precedents affecting ongoing cases; * Collaborate with clients, witnesses, experts, and colleagues to gather information and strengthen cases; and * Ensure compliance with all procedural rules and deadlines throughout the litigation process. *Requirements** Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; * Valid license to practice law in British Columbia, or the ability to obtain such; * Proven experiencein litigation practice areas such as civil or commercial law is preferred, we are open to considering candidates with experience in other provinces (?) ; * Strong research skills with proficiency in LexisNexis or similar legal research platforms; * Excellent negotiation abilities to facilitate settlements effectively; * Exceptional writing skills for drafting clear, persuasive legal documents; * Solid understanding of legal drafting techniques and courtroom procedures; * Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal issues critically and develop strategic solutions; * Effective communication skills for client interaction and courtroom advocacy; and * Self-motivated and eager to advance their litigation experience.
