Renison invites applications for a full-time, 12-month contract position of MSW Field Education Coordinator (35 hours per week) with the salary range of: $59,938 and $74,922 per annum.This position is open to qualified candidates who are legally entitled to work in Canada.

Objectives: Reporting to the Interim MSW Program Manager, the MSW Field Education Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of field education for students in Renison’s Master of Social Work program. The Coordinator works closely with students, field instructors, placement organizations, faculty, staff, and University offices to support high-quality practicum experiences that enable students to integrate social work knowledge, values, skills, ethics, and professional identity.

The MSW Field Education Coordinator advises and supports students through the practicum planning and placement process; develops and maintains relationships with placement organizations and field instructors; assists with placement matching, learning contracts, evaluations, documentation, and completion processes; and responds to student and placement concerns in consultation with the Interim MSW Program Manager.

This is a one-year replacement position. The responsibilities of the role may evolve over the term of the appointment as Renison completes its operational review and responds to emerging program needs.

The role requires strong judgement, excellent communication and organizational skills, knowledge of social work field education, and a demonstrated commitment to student-centred support, anti-oppressive and inclusive practice, accessibility, Indigenous reconciliation, anti-racism, and decolonizing approaches to social work education.

Additionally, the incumbent will represent Renison in a manner consistent with the values, goals, and strategic directions of the University College.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master of Social Work degree from a Canadian Association for Social Work Education-accredited program, or a recognized equivalent.
  • Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, or eligibility and willingness to become registered by the start date.
  • Membership in a provincial or national professional social work association, such as the Ontario Association of Social Workers or Canadian Association of Social Workers, is an asset.
  • Additional education or training related to field education, supervision, student advising, accessibility, equity, conflict resolution, or adult education is an asset.

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of recent and relevant professional social work practice experience.
  • Experience in social work field education, such as field instruction, practicum coordination, student supervision, placement development, or experiential education.
  • Experience advising, mentoring, supporting, or supervising students, learners, staff, or volunteers.
  • Experience developing and sustaining collaborative relationships with community organizations, field instructors, students, faculty, staff, and professional partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and respond to matters involving student learning, professional conduct, supervision, safety, accessibility, equity, conflict, or placement disruption.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and sensitive matters with sound judgement, tact, diplomacy, discretion, and procedural fairness.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of social work field education standards, professional ethics, the CASW Code of Ethics, risk management, student accommodations, and relevant institutional, legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
