Join us in shaping Canada's sustainable energy future The Pembina Institute is seeking an Analyst to join our Electricity team based out of our Toronto or Ottawa offices. Come help us advance research and policy development to reduce emissions from the electricity sector. Who we are At the Pembina Institute, it's all hands on deck and it has been for the last 40 years. Our 50+ person team, distributed across the country, are passionate and dedicated, but we don't sweat the small stuff. We're too busy tackling one of the most important issues of our time: Canada's clean energy transition. In that transition, we don't leave anyone behind and believe each member of our team plays a critical role in achieving our goals. We ensure equity but promote individuality. We lead with curiosity — challenging our own ideas and limiting beliefs, being open to diversity of thought and opinion. We use evidence-based thinking to inform our recommendations to decision-makers and understand that to make long-lasting changes, we need to take a practical approach when collaborating with others. Our commitment to responsible development, and our "tough, but fair" approach, using research, consulting and convening, gives us credibility with decision makers whose actions today are setting the direction for the planet. Are you ready to join us? Meet the team Our Electricity team works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the Pembina Institute maximizes its impact in decarbonizing Canada's electricity sector. The team develops reports, analyzes market trends, and researches policy positions on the local and global economic impacts of the energy transition and energy policy. The opportunity Reporting to the Director, you'll provide research, qualitative and quantitative analysis, writing and policy advocacy support to the program team. Your key responsibilities Support projects from initiation to completion, ensuring projects align with organizational objectives, meet budgets, and contribute to the Pembina Institute's reputation. Produce high-quality resources including primers, reports, presentations, webinars, briefing notes, and summaries of industry news and trends. Research and conduct technical, quantitative, and qualitative analysis. Synthesize research and analysis to inform the development of policy positions and recommendations. Provide the communications team with materials and content for external channels such as social media or newsletters. Implement components of the program strategy to build community, increase awareness, and provide effective educational tools, templates, and ongoing support to the team. Maintain constructive relationships with external stakeholders, including representing the Pembina Institute in internal and, as required, external meetings. Assist with securing additional funding through proposal development. What we're looking for You are self-motivated and results-oriented, having the ability to take initiative and demonstrate your commitment to sustainability and social change. You have excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills along with high attention to detail. You have a strong ability to research and analyze quantitative and qualitative data, organizing your work and projects using software tools for data management and communications. Minimum of an undergraduate degree in business, economics, law, public policy, or a related field. A combination of work experience and education may be considered.
