Reporting to the Vice President, Canada Fraud Management, this role has overall accountability for the leadership and oversight of Fraud Operations at Tangerine, ensuring business strategies, plans , and day - to - day activities comply with governing regulations, internal policies , and procedures. The incumbent is accountable for developing Tangerine’s fraud prevention and detection strategies, policies , and programs across its broad range of products and delivery channels, as well as leading initiatives to safeguard Tangerine’s reputation, maintain customer confidence , and minimize losses to the Bank. Strategically, this role must continue to evolve the Fraud Operations strategy to mitigate fraud risk and reduce fraud losses.

  • Lead and drive a customer - focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems , and knowledge.
  • Leads the transformation, design, development, and sustainment of fraud operations strategies, processes and policies intended to reduce the Bank's exposure and minimize losses resulting from criminal activity across a broad range of complex products and delivery channels.
  • In conjunction with the Fraud senior leadership team, contribute to the long-term strategic direction of Fraud Management and provide input into the design and implementation of the overall fraud management strategic roadmap and future initiatives, including the Automation and AI program.
  • Leverages and continually monitors fraud prevention best practices to ensure ongoing effectiveness in detecting fraudulent activity. Ensures reporting and key metrics are established, reviewed, and leveraged as part of the management of the function. Works with Fraud Analytics resources in Global Fraud Management.
  • Leads the monitoring and reporting of fraudulent activities and the communication with customers, partners and stakeholders.
  • Lead incidents , as appropriate, by leveraging support from the Cyber Fraud Incident team within Global Fraud Management .
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends , and evolving regulatory requirements , and assess their potential impact on customers, the Bank, and appropriate actions.
  • Employs a best-in-class operating model to mitigate fraud losses, improve efficiencies and increase productivity, thus enhancing the customer experience, reducing the Bank’s exposure to fraud and delivering a best-practice control environment.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to proactively identify threats, vulnerabilities , and operational gaps, and address emerging trends.
  • Provide overall management of Tangerine Fraud Relationship Management and governance over fraud key metrics , including KPIs and KRIs , to measure fraud exposure and the effectiveness of fraud mitigation strategies.
  • Provide advice and counsel to the Bank's Senior Management and Business Line Management in the assessment and management of fraud issues to ensure business decisions balance business growth and fraud risk management; and partner with other key stakeholders in Tangerine to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
