Your Opportunity at SECURE
As our Payroll & Benefits Coordinator , you'll play a key role in supporting payroll and benefits operations for employees across Canada and the USA. Reporting to the Manager, Payroll & Benefits Operations, you'll ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, administer employee benefits, and support employee lifecycle changes. You'll also collaborate with teams across the business to deliver an exceptional employee experience while driving continuous process improvements.
This role is based out of Calgary, AB.
The Team
Our Payroll & Benefits team is collaborative, customer-focused, and committed to delivering accurate, timely payroll and benefits support to employees across Canada and the USA. We partner closely with teams across the business, continuously look for ways to improve our processes, and support one another in providing exceptional service.
Work Environment
This is a 9-12 month fixed-term contract position working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with flexibility required to support business needs and payroll processing deadlines.
A Day in The Life
- Coordinate semi-monthly payroll processing for employees, including employee lifecycle changes, payroll audits, reconciliations, reporting, and payroll data validation.
- Process employee terminations, prepare final pay calculations, and submit Records of Employment (ROEs) in a timely manner.
- Administer SECURE's employee benefits and savings programs, including enrollments, lifecycle changes, and benefit extensions.
- Process payroll and benefit remittances, including savings plan contributions, CRA payroll taxes, and other required deductions.
- Maintain accurate payroll and benefits records while ensuring the integrity of electronic and paper documentation.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including reconciliations, reporting, T2200s, etc.
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding to payroll and benefits inquiries and escalating complex issues as required.
- Partner with Managers, HR Coordinators, and Administrators to maintain accurate employee data and support effective communication across the business.
- Contribute to payroll and benefits improvements, process improvements, and change management initiatives.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- 2-5 years of experience processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or currently pursuing a payroll designation.
- Proven knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, including multi-provincial and multi-jurisdictional payroll requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas, etc.).
- Experience using UKG, Kronos, and/or Workday is considered an asset.
- Experience processing U.S. payroll is considered an asset.
- Experience administering U.S. employee benefits is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a mid- to large-sized organization is an asset.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
