Only selected candidates will be contacted. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ SUMMARY STATEMENT: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Wellness Coordinator is accountable for wellness and recreation functions in the areas of activities, shuttle services, and resident support. This position manages the Wellness department and shuttle including responsibility for their operating budget, hiring/supervising/reprimanding/terminating of staff, and contracting of activity services. It provides recreation and shuttle services supporting high quality customer service. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees all planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, controlling, and evaluating the activities of the Wellness department. Supervises, evaluates, and monitors Recreation Assistants and Shuttle Drivers. Provides recreational services supporting high quality customer service and resident satisfaction. Develops and provides a variety of activities and programs for residents that meet spiritual, mental, physical guidelines. Monitors and arranges the schedule for Wellness staff. Develops, schedules, and coordinates a monthly activity calendar for residents. Participates in all Wellness departmental progressive disciplinary steps. Is knowledgeable of the community Mission, Vision, and Values and endeavours to promote it to ensure resident satisfaction. Reviews all complaint forms related to Wellness and ensures appropriate action has been taken and provides feedback to complainant as necessary. Decorates common areas according to seasonal/holiday calendar, resident interests, and daily programs. Provides photos and videos of programs for the purpose of marketing materials. Promotes accountability of employees to the strategic plan, organizational structure, policies, Mission, Vision, and Values of Rotary Villas at Crocus Gardens. Maintains a good working knowledge of Rotary Villas policies and procedures including all disaster management and emergency procedures. Always acts respectfully towards co‑workers, supports teamwork practices, and maintains positive work relations and communication. Participates in the development of new policies and procedures. Participates in community operations including community events, rotating manager on‑call, continuous quality improvement, and resident relations. Provides effective communication and reporting to the Executive Director. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process through auditing Wellness practices and provides CQI reports as required. Adheres to all safety & health regulations and safe work practices. Liaise and consult with residents, families, and the community to maintain a good public image for Rotary Villas. Other duties as required, under the direction of the Executive Director. QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience in recreation services or senior care is considered an asset. Post‑secondary education in wellness or exercise, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology or a related field. Certifications and/or experience in other wellness related functions. A current and clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Check. Fully vaccinated against Covid‑19. Class 4 license (or must be willing to obtain upon hire). Current CPR and First Aid Certification required (or must be willing to obtain upon hire). Superb organizational, time management, and multi‑tasking skills. Motivated to make the necessary accommodations to ensure program success. Effective oral and written communication skills to respectfully and compassionately work with seniors and their families. Creative, outgoing, and energetic personality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
