Strategic Communications Advisor – University Relations – Ayamdigut Campus (Whitehorse) – Permanent – 75 hours bi-weekly – Wage: TBD – Employment Opportunity No.: 25.139 – Closing Date: November 30th, 2025 Responsibilities Develop and implement media relations and communication strategies to promote YukonU’s initiatives. Write, edit, and design materials such as press releases, speeches, briefings, and public announcements. Coordinate responses to media inquiries and act as a spokesperson when appropriate. Advise and support senior leaders, faculty, and staff on communications and public engagement. Manage internal communications, including the weekly university newsletter and website updates. Collaborate with the digital strategist on social media content and campaigns. Partner with funders, community organizations, and stakeholders to support joint communications. Provide project management for communications initiatives and public-facing events. Qualifications A relevant degree or diploma in communications, public relations, or a related field. Experience in media relations, public affairs, or corporate communications. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills for a variety of audiences. Knowledge of digital communication tools and social media best practices. The ability to analyze complex information and communicate it clearly. Knowledge of Yukon First Nations and demonstrated cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity. Political acuity, sound judgment, and a collaborative spirit.
