This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full‑time position and 1 12‑month term position, both working 75 hours bi‑weekly, within the Department of Health and Social Services in Whitehorse, Yukon. Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Strategic Policy and Planning, the Strategic Policy Advisor will provide strategic thinking and advice on key policy matters; design and conduct research; formulate and recommend policy, program, and statutory approaches on a wide range of health and social services issues; develop and implement recommended approaches; and lead major legislative development projects. The role also includes supporting or leading intergovernmental work with federal, provincial, territorial, and First Nations governments. Responsibilities Provide strategic thinking and advice on key policy matters. Design and conduct research; formulate and recommend policy, program, and statutory approaches. Lead major legislative development projects. Support or lead intergovernmental work among federal, provincial, territorial, and First Nations governments. Essential Qualifications Post‑secondary degree in social or health sciences, public administration, or other related area. Extensive experience as a lead person researching, assessing, and developing policy options within a government or large organizational context. Experience representing organizational interests and with health or social service‐related policy. Experience developing and implementing legislation is an asset. Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability Proven ability to establish successful partnerships through collaboration with diverse stakeholders. Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently. Commitment to client service and flexibility.
