Pre‑employment Requirement Drug Test Job Description The primary role of an electrician is to install electrical power, equipment and control systems throughout underground work areas: ESS’s (substations), pumpstations, charging dispensers, shops, vent doors, sumps, etc. Fabrication and installation of electrical racks and cable supports Lighting, receptacles and electric/hydraulic equipment Phone systems and all mine communication systems PLC and other advanced or automation systems High Voltage, Medium Voltage and Low Voltage installation and equipment Installation of DC charging equipment Assist with fabrication of electrical panels and other necessary installation of electrical cables, when required Responsibilities Comprehend written and verbal instructions required to perform duties safely and efficiently. Read and understand electrical drawings. Read and interpret basic electrical instruments and testers. Perform safe and timely emergency repairs to equipment. Follow procedure to ensure safety and prevent equipment damage. Help train new employees, apprentices, etc., on day‑to‑day operations and procedures for operating electrical test, maintenance and installation equipment not requiring third‑party approvals. Communicate written and verbal instructions to subordinates. Note: duties listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all‑inclusive. Health & Safety Maintain a safe and efficient working environment. Follow Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and report any unsafe acts or conditions. Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required for the performance of the work. Possess knowledge of WHMIS legislation and effectively use an MSDS sheet. Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area. Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent. Journeyman electrician’s certificate (Red Seal) and provincial license as required. Work Experience Installation of low, medium, and high voltage systems and repairs. HV cable termination and splicing considered an asset. 2–3 years underground experience an asset. Knowledge Required Multi‑task and work effectively. Work efficiently as part of a team and independently. Electrical installations, troubleshooting, construction and maintenance skills. Supervise skilled and non‑skilled workers. Read blueprints, effectively layout work, perform trade electrical work and have general knowledge of repair work. Good understanding of CEC, M421, and Z462. Communicate effectively (orally and written) and maintain good relationships with staff and managers. Problem‑solve by evaluating information, giving relevant considerations when making decisions, interpreting data and reacting appropriately to changing situations. Respectful of cultural differences.
