Join to apply for the Industrial Electrician (Medium Voltage) role at STELCO - The Steel Company of Canada.Job QualificationsIndustrial Electrician Certificate of Qualification (442A);2+ years of experience in an industrial environment;Consideration may be given to candidates possessing a 309A Construction & Maintenance (must have experience in maintenance and trouble-shooting industrial equipment).Job Skills And KnowledgeExperience working with medium voltage power system equipmentKnowledge of different voltage levels and limitations (13.8 kV, 2.2 kV, 600 Volt, 250 Vdc)Experience with CO-8 electromechanical relays would be an assetPrevious experience working on electrical distribution systems would be an assetWorking knowledge of Canadian Electrical CodeCandidate would be responsible for maintaining MV switchgear, transformers, relays, metering equipmentFamiliar with lockouts/ lockout proceduresIndustrial troubleshooting experienceWorking knowledge of SLDs, control circuit prints, alarm circuits, Transformer theory, MV breakers, power factor correction, lighting circuitsWilling to assist with co-op and apprentice trainingTemperature Tolerance: ability to withstand extreme temperaturesReaction Time: ability to quickly respond to process upsetsStatic Strength: ability to exert significant muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objectsTrunk Strength: ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuouslyDynamic Strength: ability to exert muscle force at intervals throughout a work shiftAgility: ability to navigate different areas of the plant, including stairs, ladders, and barriersManual Dexterity: ability to move and react quicklyWork EnvironmentHeavy industrial environment; may work within various facility areas with conditions that may be hot, cold, dirty, dusty, wet or noisySafety is a priority; adhere to safety procedures; PPE required at all times during a shiftEmployees work in a unionized and highly industrial settingHamilton facility operates 24/7; 12-hour shifts on a continental pattern; may rotate days and nightsOccasional work on different days, weekends, and holidays; overtime may be requiredPunctuality and attendance are essentialSponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
